Solar for Multi Unit Residential Buildings

Energy upgrades can be a daunting task but a reduction in operating costs is one of the primary goals for all condo boards and property managers. With the right support, these upgrades (like solar) are not only manageable, but financially rewarding. Whether you live on an acreage or a working farm, solar will help you stay independent from the energy companies.

Our Work

We bring project planning expertise and operational excellence, taking on the full workload of large-scale solar projects.

Awards

Solar YYC completed the largest MURB solar project in Southern Alberta—winner of the 2024 APSystems Project of the Year.

Our Process

For other retrofits (EV chargers, lighting, insulation, heat pumps, boilers), we’ll connect you with trusted partners for project management and financing.

Financial Incentives

Canada Greener Affordable Housing

This program provides forgivable and low-interest loans to help finance building retrofit measures and activities needed to meet climate goals. It also supplies contributions for pre-retrofit activities needed to plan, prepare and apply for retrofit funding.

CMHC will fund 100% of eligible retrofit costs, up to $170,000 per unit (low-interest repayable and forgivable loans combined). Forgivable loans will be the lesser of: $85,000 per unit, or 80% of eligible retrofit costs. Low-interest loans will be available to finance the rest.

ITC

Depending on property by-laws your project could be eligible for a 30% (of total project value) tax credit through the Canadian ITC. There are reporting requirements but it’s something that Solar YYC will take on.

CCA

Depending on property by-laws your project could be eligible for Accelerate Capital Cost depreciation. Solar YYC will be happy to help you navigate the reporting requirements to get that much more savings out of your solar array.

 Edmonton Greener Affordable Housing

The grant provides up to $4,000 or 50% (whichever is lower) of the costs to develop an EV Charging Road Map.

All program documents available on this page currently apply only to Phase 1. Coming soon!

Phase 2 of ChargeYYC is planned to launch in 2025.

In Phase 2, we will provide funding to install electric vehicle chargers for selected projects based on approved EV Charging Road Maps. Please stay tuned for updates on Phase 2 details, timelines, and eligibility.
